Location & Setting:

  • Asheboro
  • Care setting Outpatient
  • Randolph County and surrounding area
  • Primary patient population served by the APP is women's health population, ages 13 and up.
  • Collaborative setting

Scope of Practice/What You'll Do:

The APP will be responsible for performing functions within his/her recognized specialty/patient population women's health. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assess the health status of individuals and families through history taking, physical examination, and defining of health and developmental problems;
  • Order tests and evaluate test findings, diagnose, and initiate appropriate action to facilitate the implementation of the therapeutic plan of care;
  • Institute and provide continuity of health care to patients, and work with the patient to enhance understanding of the compliance with the therapeutic regimen, and referral to a physician or other care provider;
  • Provide instruction and counseling to individuals, families and groups in the area of health promotion and maintenance, including involving such persons in planning for their health care;
  • Work in collaboration with other health care providers and agencies to provide and coordinate services to individuals and families;
  • Prescribe prescription drugs, devices and medical gases, utilized within the APP's area of practice. Registration with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency extends this authority to controlled substances;
  • Obtain informed consent from patients prior to a procedure that the APP will perform or in which the APP will participate;
  • Obtain informed consent from patients prior to a procedure that another medical professional will perform; and
  • Perform medically delegated function(s) under the direction of the physician.

Insertion and removal of Intrauterine Devices (IUD), Nexplanon, treatments of STD's, Pap Smear, swab cultures for routine OB testing

Team & Support Structure

  • 3 MD's, 2 APP's and 18 support staff
  • Collaboration model; Supervising MD's
  • Onboarding/training support: Supervising MD's

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements:

  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.

Compensation Structure:

  • Starting at $51.05 per hour.
