  • Intra-operative Care: Assist during surgical procedures by providing direct support to the surgical team, including suturing, specimen collection, and surgical site management.
  • Post-operative Care: Monitor and assess patients post-surgery, managing pain, complications, and recovery. Provide discharge instructions, and ensure patients have appropriate follow-up care.
  • Patient Management: Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for surgical patients.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Patient Education: Provide counseling on post-operative care, including medication management, activity restrictions, wound care, and signs of complications.
  • On-call Responsibilities: Participate in on-call rotations as needed for emergency surgical care.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient workflow in the surgical department.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
  • Current New York State Physician Assistant licensure.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Previous surgical experience or a strong interest in surgery preferred.
  • Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to think critically and make independent decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and poise.
