Status: Contingent | Days

Setting: 100% Inpatient | 100% Adult Patients

Call/Weekends: Yes weekends, no call requirements

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Trauma Surgery team at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. This role provides inpatient care for trauma and surgical patients, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, consultations, daily rounding, and care coordination. The APP will work collaboratively with trauma surgeons, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This contingent day shift position requires weekend coverage, has no call responsibilities, and offers the opportunity to practice in a fast-paced trauma surgery environment while caring for a diverse and complex patient population.

Employment contingent upon credentialing and completion of Employee Health screening per HFHS policy.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of Trauma experience as an APP required
  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

Credentials:

Education & Training
Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

Licensure
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

Certification
PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

(e.g., ANCC, AANP)

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
