Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Cardiology team in Longview, TX for night shift coverage. This role focuses on providing high-quality overnight care to hospitalized cardiology patients in collaboration with on-call cardiologists and hospital teams. The ideal candidate will have strong acute care or inpatient cardiology experience and be comfortable managing patients independently during night hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight coverage for inpatient cardiology service
- Perform patient assessments, admissions, and cross-cover as needed
- Manage acute cardiac conditions and respond to clinical changes
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including EKGs, labs, and imaging
- Collaborate with cardiologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and ICU teams
- Communicate effectively during handoffs and transitions of care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
Qualifications
- Current Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
- Acute care or inpatient cardiology experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently overnight
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
