Position Summary:
The Psychiatric NP provides direct clinical care, including psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits, medication management, injectable medication administration, crisis intervention, and treatment support for individuals receiving mental health and substance use treatment. This role works independently and collaboratively with psychiatrists, therapists, and the clinical team to ensure safe and effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
  • Conduct ongoing psychiatric follow-up visits to monitor treatment response, symptoms, and progress
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric and MAT medications, including long-acting injectables (e.g., Sublocade, Vivitrol, and other injectable antipsychotics), monitoring for efficacy and side effects
  • Administer or oversee administration of injectable medications as needed
  • Develop, adjust, and manage individualized medication regimens based on clinical presentation
  • Order and interpret relevant labs and diagnostic tests
  • Educate patients and families on medication safety, purpose, and effects
  • Provide therapeutic communication, support, and de-escalation
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and assist with safety planning
  • Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary case reviews
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EMR
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal standards of care, including DEA/controlled substance regulations

Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialization
  • Active, unrestricted APRN/NP license in the state of Indiana
  • Active DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances, including Schedule II-V and buprenorphine/MAT waiver as applicable
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) required
  • Previous experience in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, or addiction treatment required
  • Experience administering or managing injectable psychiatric/MAT medications preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong assessment, prescribing, communication, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based clinical environment
