Schedule: Flexible Up to 3 Hours Per Week Onsite

Looking for a flexible opportunity that allows you to continue practicing medicine while making a meaningful difference? Southern Health Partners is seeking a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant to provide onsite medical care at the Surry County Detention Center.

This is an ideal opportunity for a provider looking to supplement an existing practice, ease into retirement, or add a rewarding role with exceptional flexibility. Your clinical expertise will help ensure patients receive timely, quality healthcare in a structured correctional setting where every encounter matters.
What You'll Do

Conduct onsite patient evaluations and follow-up visits
Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions
Review and oversee medical care provided by nursing staff as appropriate
Prescribe medications and treatments within your scope of practice
Collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team
Ensure accurate, timely documentation and compliance with correctional healthcare standards

Qualifications

Active North Carolina Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license in good standing
DEA registration (or ability to obtain if required for prescribing)
Current CPR/BLS certification
Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with nursing staff
Correctional, emergency, urgent care, family practice, or primary care experience is helpful but not required
