Setting: 100% Outpatient | 100% Adult Patients

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiac Surgery team in Detroit, MI. The NP/PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and serve as a first-line provider responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination of cardiac surgery patients and their families. This role provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care while working closely with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Responsibilities may include patient evaluation and management, development of treatment plans, coordination of care, and specialty-specific procedures as indicated by training, experience, and credentialing. This contingent opportunity offers a flexible schedule with no call or weekend requirements and the opportunity to support a high-performing Cardiac Surgery program within Henry Ford Health.

-Qualifications:

  • Ambulatory experience preferred
  • Cardiovascular experience preferred
  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

Credentials:

Education & Training
Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

Licensure
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

Certification
PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

(e.g., ANCC, AANP)

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
