Nurse Practitioner, Hematology-Oncology
JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients who have a diagnosis of cancer or a hematologic disorder in the outpatient setting, in collaboration with medical oncologists in the practice.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Maintains efficient clinic workflow.
- Assesses client for education needs.
Provides education regarding.
- health promotion
- symptom management including disease process.
- chemotherapy regimens
- medications, prevention and recognition of complications and self-care
- Functions within limit and scope of Nurse Practice Act
- Within the cancer and infusion care setting:
- Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patients' medical, physical, and psychosocial status.
- Identify medical and health risks and needs as it relates to the patient.
- Formulate the appropriate differential diagnosis based on the history, physical examination, and clinical findings.
- Order appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe pharmacologic agents.
- Interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Provide patients, family, and caregiver education.
- Collaborate with and make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals.
- Formulate and implement treatment plans.
- Listens to clients and families and offers reassurance and emotional support.
- Respects dignity of client and maintains confidentiality of records and verbal communications.
- Provides telephone triage, facilitates referrals, and uses assessment skills and clinic protocols to respond to medical questions from clients.
- Maintains accurate patient records. Records care and teaching provided; assessment of client response and/or understanding.
- Maintains health and safety standards within the clinic environment, including quality control, infection control, management of hazardous materials and security.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Completion of accredited Master of Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Program.
Training and Experience
- One (1) year experience as an NP preferred.
- Experience working with oncology/hematology patients preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Active WA State NP License required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Active unrestricted DEA license required.
- Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) certification preferred.
- Successful completion of Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) certification within 2 years required if not previously obtained. Once obtained, certification must be maintained.

Wage Range: $125,000 - $140,000 - Sign-On Incentive up to $20K
