About the Clinician's Workday

The neurology nurse practitioner will provide inpatient coverage Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in a solo advanced clinician capacity working alongside 1-2 neurologists. Clinical responsibilities encompass general and stroke neurology, including daily patient rounding, responding to stroke alert calls within 15 minutes, and managing emergent consults. The clinician must be proficient in independently conducting neurological and physical examinations, evaluating complex medical histories, and formulating differential diagnoses. Additional duties include ordering, collecting, and interpreting diagnostic tests; creating and managing medication plans; rounding in the ICU as needed; and coordinating referrals, discharges, and patient and family education. Board certification, ACLS, BLS, and prescriptive authority are required. An active state license or IMLC is required, and inpatient neurology experience with stroke experience is preferred.
