LOCUM APP - CRITICAL CARE ICU | MASSACHUSETTS

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Specialty: Critical Care / ICU APP.
  • Setting: Teaching Hospital - Adult ICU.
  • Location: Massachusetts.
  • EMR: Epic.
  • Patient Population: Adult.
  • ICU Beds: 10.
  • Average Daily Census: 7.
  • Assignment Type: Locum.

SCHEDULE:

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM-7:00 PM.
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM-7:00 AM.
  • Weekend coverage required.
  • Friday night is considered a weekend shift.
  • Local providers preferred.
  • Providers should be able to commute by car, train, or subway.
  • No travel provided.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Round with the attending physician in the morning
  • Complete patient care tasks throughout the day
  • Conduct afternoon rounds
  • Serve as a responding clinician for the ICU
  • Provide bread-and-butter ICU and medical-surgical care
  • Manage approximately 1-2 burn patients
  • Work with a team of 4 APPs under physician supervision
  • Some clinical independence is encouraged

PROCEDURES:

  • No intubations.
  • No central lines.
  • No ventilator management.
  • No transplant cases.
  • No ECHO.
  • No head/complex neurosurgical cases.
  • No EVD management.
  • No complex neuro-stroke cases.
  • No procedures performed by APPs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of critical care experience.
  • Acute Care board certification with ICU experience.
  • Massachusetts license required.
  • PA candidates only.
  • PAs must apply for Massachusetts licensure before credentialing can begin.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • DEA required.
  • Credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days.
