Rotating schedule: 6 or 12-hour shifts including every other weekend

Position Summary
Coordinates clinical management of patient care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary healthcare team and Hospital Medicine Specialist on duty.

Responsibilities

  • This includes demonstrating the ability to assess, diagnose, and treat minor injuries/illness. Performs physical exams, prescribes and administers medication within scope of practice and demonstrates the proper referral of patients.
  • Works collaboratively with supervising physician and other practice providers to provide consistent quality care to patients in a manner that is clinically sound and evidenced based. Including knowledge of patient care related equipment/devices.
  • Notes are accurate, timely, complete, and legible. Uses electronic documentation systems accurately and appropriately, completes required sign off test results, office visit notes, and addresses electronically submitted data in a timely manner consistent with the processes established by the supervising physician.
  • Demonstrates professional, patient centered, age-appropriate communication regarding patient plans for care, follow up treatments, reasons for referrals, procedure/surgery explanation, and overall patient education needs as applicable.
  • Responds appropriately and timely to requests from clinical staff for direction regarding patient care.
  • This includes assisting with the monitoring and evaluation and data collection as required for quality assurance, performance improvements as indicated. May also include assistance with the orientation of assigned personnel, maintaining appropriate logs, forms, and records. May make recommendations for improvement in case delivery system as determined.
  • Documents accurately, completely, and timely all patient care. Effectively communicates with and updates the physician, keeping him/her apprised on patient care. In lieu of direct patient care in the nursing home or hospital setting, demonstrates ability to assess accurately the specialized needs of nursing home and/or recently hospitalized patients
  • Timely, accurately, and completely provides the necessary documentation, forms, and submission of information as needed for billing of patient encounters.
  • Attends annual continuing education programs as required to maintain certification. Researches new processes, procedures, and applications which can better serve center of patient needs.
  • Shows creativity and innovation in offering solutions to problems and/or improving work processes. Responds constructively when new ideas, requirements and/or work processes are initiated. Maintains confidentiality of all information relating to patients and staff. Takes responsibility for reading and applying information from memos, e-mail, minutes, and other communications.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid license in TN as a Registered Nurse (Required)
  • Certified through ANCC or AANP (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • 2 years nursing practitioner experience in a clinical setting (Preferred)
