Advanced Practice Provider - Surgical Services

- Day shift position
- 6:45am - 5pm
- 36 hours per week
The Advanced Practice Provider provides First Assisting skills to surgeons in the surgical arena. This position can be fulfilled by a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant.
Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:
- Works as a member of the clinical team to promote, support and provide surgical care to patients.
- Assists in surgery to include, but not limited to first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of appliances and any other action delegated by the surgeon. These are primary responsibilities.
- Maintains knowledge of current medical trends and ongoing professional development in pertinent medical fields.
- Works within stated parameters of credentialing related to surgery.
- Serves as a resource for surgical staff and recognizes the importance of working as a team.
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Licensure as NP by State of Michigan
Physician's Assistant:
- A Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistants) accredited institution
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants)
- Licensure as a Physician Assistant by the State of Michigan
