Summary

Northwest Hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Surgical team in Randallstown, Maryland.

About this role:

  • Work under the direction and supervision of an attending surgeon to support patient care across hospital floors, the Emergency Department, and other clinical areas.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care while prioritizing patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate proactively with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Coordinate patient care among surgeons, referring physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers.
  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Order and prescribe medications, laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, IV fluids, diets, activity levels, and other patient care orders as appropriate.
  • Assist in surgical procedures by handling tissue, providing surgical exposure, using instruments, suturing, tying, and achieving hemostasis.
  • Respond to the Emergency Department to manage and assist with trauma resuscitations.
  • Educate patients on discharge instructions, wound care, medication use, dietary recommendations, and other aspects of post-hospital care.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program
  • Master's degree required
  • Maryland NP or PA License (active and in good standing)
  • Advanced Practice approval (if applicable)
  • NCCPA certification (for PAs)
  • National NP Board Certification (for NPs)
  • ACLS and BLS certification
  • Maryland CDS License

Preferred Experience

  • Surgical experience required
  • Acute Care experience prreferred
