The University of Maryland Midtown Health Center is seeking an experienced Adult or Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our growing primary care team. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative outpatient setting focused on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to diverse populations.
Working alongside physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, the Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced clinical care, promote preventive health, and develop meaningful relationships with patients while helping improve the health of the community.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, examinations, and evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications as appropriate.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and laboratory studies.
- Provide follow-up care and ongoing disease management.
Patient Education & Care Coordination
- Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, medications, and treatment plans.
- Promote preventive health and wellness initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and referring providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Coordinate referrals and communicate effectively across the healthcare team.
Documentation & Quality
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Adhere to established nursing and medical standards of practice.
- Safeguard confidential and protected health information.
- Support quality, safety, and evidence-based care initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Master of Science degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current Maryland Nurse Practitioner licensure.
- National certification in specialty area.
- DEA and CDS eligibility.
- BLS and ACLS certification, as required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Nurse Practitioner experience in a primary care setting.
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
