The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Specific Requirements:
- Performs comprehensive physical assessments and health history on adult patients: discriminates between normal and abnormal findings
- Selects and orders tests and procedures necessary to augment physical findings and distinguish between normal and abnormal findings
- Collaborates with the attending or collaborating physician concerning pertinent historical events, physical findings, diagnostic and therapeutic measures initiated on patients
- Documents total plan for delivery of care; writes orders for accomplishing that plan; and implements the plan through collaboration with the patient, family, medical and nursing staff
- Performs therapeutic or corrective measures deemed necessary for the treatment of the patient
- Refers patients to appropriate physicians and consults when deemed necessary
- Evaluates and revises plan of care on an ongoing basis and reviews revisions with the patient/family, collaborating physician/ attending and nursing staff
- Places all patients on critical pathways as appropriate
- Determine and documents clearance for surgery
- Write/dictate discharge summaries Active involvement in the development of patient care protocols and critical pathways
- Educates patient/family in regard to disease process, treatment plan, options and recommended follow-up
- Meets regularly with patients/family with regard to clinical course, prognosis, and discharge planning
- Incorporates Advance Directives into the plan of care as indicated and communicates the existence to the team
- Recognizes areas for improvement in divisional policies or patient care; initiates change; educate all involved in change
- Assesses success of intervention, compliance, effect on initial divisional policy or patient care issues
- Round regularly with nursing leadership and staff concerning patient care issues
- Participates in the Division's research projects by obtaining consent for approved studies and complying with details of all active prospective research protocols
- Assist in supervising residents, nurse practioners and physician assistants in acquiring technical skills
- Documents skill levels of those assigned to precept
- Covers for other Acute Care APNs when needed
- Maintains collaborative agreement with a physician who has privileges at RWJBH
- Maintains Medical Center privileges
