
Nocturnist Advanced Practice Clinician in Abilene, TX
Join a high-functioning, collaborative hospital medicine team as a full-time nocturnist physician assistant with TeamHealth at a 522-bed regional referral center serving the Texas Midwest. We are actively seeking a motivated nocturnist APC to step into a well-supported role focused on primary admissions and cross-coverage. You'll work alongside an experienced, team-based nocturnist model with strong physician and APC collaboration.
Position Highlights
- 7-on/7-off schedule (7pm-7am): enjoy true work-life balance
- Average ~15 shifts/month, with optional extra shifts available
- Team-based model with a swing shift physician (1pm-1am), swing shift APC (9am-9pm, and 2 overnight APCs supporting admissions and floor coverage
- 10-12 admissions per night (shared); most seen collaboratively
- APCs manage a significant portion of cross-coverage, allowing efficient workflow
- Exposure to low, moderate, and high acuity patients
Clinical Environment
- Closed ICU with dedicated intensivists
- Strong support during codes (ED physicians respond; ICU manages their own)
- Procedures optional; ED physicians available for assistance
- Broad specialty support within the hospital
