What You Will Do

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join an established, clinician-led Hospitalist team at Ascension Calumet Hospital.

  • Autonomy & Sustainable Pace: Practice within a highly desirable critical access hospital environment, managing an incredibly sustainable daily patient census of just 4-8 patients.
  • Lead Inpatient Medical Care: Partner closely with a collaborative physician to evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions, ensuring every patient receives a personalized, high-quality path toward recovery.
  • Manage the Clinical Journey: Direct the full spectrum of inpatient care-from initial assessment and comprehensive history-taking to ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies-to drive excellent health outcomes.
  • Focus on Medicine, Not Codes: Experience peace of mind during your shift, knowing that all emergency codes are handled directly by the dedicated Emergency Department team.
  • Empower Patients & Families: Provide vital bedside counseling and education regarding treatment options, preventative health, and community resources, giving families confidence for their post-discharge care.
  • Document the Patient Story: Capture the care journey with precision and clinical accuracy, maintaining records that align with specialty standards and ensure flawless continuity of care.

Additional Preferences

  • Licensure & Certification: Must be a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant eligible for an unrestricted Wisconsin state license and DEA registration.
  • Clinical Focus: Prior hospitalist or acute care experience is preferred, with a strong commitment to collaborative, team-based practice.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Education:

  • Master's degree of Nursing required.
