About the Position: The Family Nurse Practitioner provides advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care to patients receiving services across East Mississippi State Hospital programs, including inpatient psychiatric services, nursing homes, substance use treatment, and community-based services in Newton and Kemper. Functioning within the Nurse Practitioner classification, this position serves as an advanced practice registered nurse responsible for evaluating patients' health status; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; developing and implementing treatment plans; prescribing medications and other therapies in accordance with licensure and protocols; and coordinating medical care with physicians and the interdisciplinary treatment team. The Family Nurse Practitioner supports continuity of care across a variety of clinical settings and patient populations and works collaboratively with nursing staff, therapists, social workers, direct care staff, and leadership to promote safe, timely, and effective medical services. The position typically reports to the Medical and/or Clinical Director, with EMSH Unit Administrators providing administrative supervision as applicable.- Additional Position Requirements: The employee must possess and maintain all current licenses, certifications, registrations, and credentials required to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Mississippi and must meet all EMSH credentialing standards.

The employee should be able to assess and treat patients appropriately, maintain accurate and timely documentation, communicate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, and adapt to changing clinical needs across multiple settings. Success in this role also requires flexibility, accountability, sound decision-making, compliance with EMSH credentialing and clinical standards, and a strong commitment to continuity of care and quality patient outcomes.The employee must be able to provide medical services across multiple EMSH programs and patient populations, maintain required clinical documentation, collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary staff, and comply with all applicable standards, protocols, and continuing education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and national board certification. - Agency Preferred Qualifications: The employee must be qualified to provide advanced medical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing services within the scope of licensure and collaborating requirements, as applicable.
