Position Summary: Cooperman Barnabas is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Coronary Care Unit (CCU) team. This is a full-time position, including coverage on weekends, night and holidays. The APP will work under the supervision of the CCU intensivist, managing critically ill patients with complex cardiac conditions in a 10-bed specialized unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform history and physicals, comprehensive assessments and manage the care of critically ill cardiac patients in the CCU.
- Develop a plan of care in collaboration with the CCU multidisciplinary team (i.e., intensivist, attending cardiologist, medical resident, cardiology fellow, and CCU Nurses) to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Manage acute and chronic cardiac conditions such as acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, post-operative cardiac surgery recovery and mechanical circulatory support devices (e.g., IABP, Impella, ECMO etc.).
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, medications, and perform advanced procedures within scope of practice and institutional protocols.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Participate in daily CCU rounds and assist with rapid response and code situations.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and other team members, providing education and support throughout the care continuum.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical encounters, progress notes, orders, and care plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) as well as entry of procedural and time based evaluation/management codes.
- Contribute to unit-based quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.
- Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Master's or doctorate degree in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) Studies from an accredited program
- Active license and board certification in the state of New Jersey NP (ACNP or FNP) or PA-C
- Active DEA and CDS registration.
- ACLS and BLS certification required.
- Experience in a critical care or cardiac ICU setting, new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, high acuity environment.
