Psych Physicians Assistant/PA-C Bookmark and Share
Full time General Psychiatry. Inpatient and Outpatient clients. Consults and liaison with Physician practice. The Physician's Assistant assists in the practice of medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. Within the Physician/PA relationship, PA's exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic, therapeutic, health promotion and disease prevention health care services. The PA takes medical histories, examines patients, orders and interprets laboratory tests and x-rays and makes diagnoses. The PA may perform those duties and responsibilities delegated by the board approved supervising physician that are within the scope of the physician's practice and expertise and within the skills of the PA. The physical presence of the physician is not required if they are or can easily be in contact with each other by phone, radio or other telecommunications. Provides on call coverage in the psyche unit. Interfaces with the hospital Medical/Surgical and Emergency Department teams as necessary. Supports psychiatric services.

Facility Description:
The Hospital is an 70+ bed facility that opened in its present location in 1983. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, is licensed by the state of Wyoming, and is approved for the acceptance of Medicare patients. The Hospital features a full-time Level II Emergency Room, a Level II Nursery and a Behavioral Health Program. State-of-the-art medical equipment includes Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and a Stereo-tactic Breast Biopsy unit. The hospital has a number of physician specialists including Otorlarygologists (ENT's), Ophthalmologists and Neurologists. The Hospital is the first hospital in the state to be approved as a provider under the Wyoming Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

Job Requirements:
Must have Wyoming Physician Assisant License.

Must be duly credentialed by the Hospital Credentialing process.

Excellent organizational skills with good judgment; ability to think and work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to perform in the stresses & demands of the position.

Ability to communicate and comprehend accurately and effectively in English through both written and verbal correspondence.

Ability to relate professionally in a supportive and positive manner to emotionally disturbed patients or those in crisis.

Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with referral sources, employers, physicians, hospital staff and hospital public, and to relate individually to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis.
