Description of Duties: Provides mental health evaluations of selected patients and agency referrals. Interviews patients, families, and staff of community agencies to obtain a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and uses this to make appropriate treatment recommendations.
• Prescribes medications and provides periodic medication checks for Center patients, as indicated by practice norms.
• Provides mental health consultations to Center clinical staff when requested.
• Processes evaluations, consultations, therapy and med management sessions in a prompt, thorough manner following Center standards for documentation.
• Provide mental health consultations to other community professionals as time allows or designates other Center clinical staff to do so.
• Provides psychotherapy for selected cases.
• Provides medical oversight to clinical staff on shared patients.
• Provides immediate intervention to patient/family in dealing with impact of an emergency situation at the request of Center clinical staff.
• Works cooperatively with clinical staff in coordinating services.
• Attends and participates periodically in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings (weekly).
• Adheres to the Code of Ethics for this discipline.
• Maintains effective communication/working relationships with co-workers, management, physicians and other professionals by communicating in an efficient, professional and courteous manner.
• Participates in educational activities, performance improvement activities, Center committees, and other related activities when requested.
• Assists with development and implementation of new programs within Behavioral Health area.
