| The Need for an Open Mind in the Medical Professions |
 |

It really irks me when I am confronted with negative, closed mind individuals who think that things will never change and will continue as they have always been. One needs to look no further than art, literature, communication, our knowledge of space, our advancements in biology, psychology, anesthesiology, surgery, nursing, NPs and PAs as well as thousands of other related worldwide issue to realize that we are always changing. Why are there are so many those are stuck in a universe that does not bend, move or change. Perhaps it has something to do with their thinking as a still and closed mind will never recover the miracles of current civilization.
In the fine year of 1876 there was a Western Union Memo that said;”the telephone has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us. Today we see all these strange people who are supposedly speaking to themselves in airports, train stations, department stores and the streets of our cities who would be paralyzed without their cell phones.
In 1943, Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM stated: ”There is a world market for perhaps as many as five computers.” He would have thought Mr. Gates was totally out of his mind.
A 1949 issue of Popular Mechanics was entitles;”The March of science.” The estimation at that time was that computers would weigh more than 1.5 tons.
Years later, in the ripe year of 1977, Ken Olsen, chairman and Founder of digital Equipment said;”There is no reason why anyone would want a computer in their home. “Tell that to 2 Billion kids no less their families in 2011.
Gary Cooper, the great hero actor of his age said “I’m just glad that it will be Clark Gable that will be falling on his face and not Gary Cooper," on his decision not to take the leading role in “Gone with the Wind.”
Gates even had limitations when he said that no one would ever have use for more than 16 K of memory.
Then, once upon a time there was a woman (it’s always a woman) Margaret Meade who stated, “Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world, for indeed, that’s all who ever had.”
My brothers and sisters that are involved in the healing of men’s and women’s minds, bodies and souls. I encourage you never to put limitations on what you can produce through your determination, your bold heartedness, your enthusiasm, your hope and your effort. We have seen change over this decade but hey will be likened to small mole hills compared to the Tsunami’s that are yet to come. We have no limits but our small imaginations and fortunately, more and more of us have expanded our minds without timothy Leary or the effect of mind expanding drugs and new doors will continue as we look to the ever changing futures. WE Will Even SEE Physician Associates in the future.

I thought that Isent you a return e-mail a couple of days ago but perhaps it was not sent from that computer. I just want to thank you for your comments and also for your contributions which are extremely well written and need to be heeded by everyone on APJ. It's a nasty world out there and if we slumber, we may sleep forever.

| Do not be restricted by the limits put on you by others only by the limits you put on yourself.. |
