 |

Most serious financial investors have a strategy in place when selecting financial products or some other investments, knowing that having such a game plan is vital to their financial viability. Yet many NPs/PAs don’t have or utilize a similar approach when interviewing while job-hunting.
In fact, often they may leave this to chance or sit silently feeling inadequate to participate or very intimidated by the would-be employer, therefore missing a very valuable opportunity to screen the prospective employer just as much as they’re being screened. Analogously, this aspect is just as important as choosing the right investments or assets.
Thus, much like knowing your financial needs and systematically developing an asset location strategy, so should you develop a similar approach when interviewing potential employers. Because productive interviews are always two-way discussions, you should have a set of questions that would facilitate recollection of facts or answers when entertaining and/or comparing and contrasting the array of employment offers presented to you during the job-hunting process. So do not forget these seven “must ask” questions to assist you in becoming an engaged job seeker during the interview process
Question # 1 Is this a “new” or an “existing” position in the company?
Question # 2 How long has this position been open/vacant? Why have previous NPs and/or PAs left this company?
Question # 3 How is this organization different from other midlevel employing practices?
Question # 4 What is/are the practice’s current/future needs and or goals?
Question # 5 Who will I be working for or report to?
Question # 6 What are or would be the expectations of me for this position?
Question # 7 What’s the managerial or supervisory style of this individual?
Question # 8 What are the duties and responsibilities for this position?
Question # 9 What is/are the benefits package?
Question # 10 Whatare the opportunities and policies regarding promotions and/or bonuses for this position?
Remember to be very tactful when asking the last 2 questions, which are just as important as any of the other ones.
Using these great 10 questions not only prevents employers from monopolizing an interview, but will give you helpful insights as to the suitability of the position for you when making your final decision.
